Jooklo Chalaque Quartet + Raven Shuns

Henry's Cellar bar
Saturday, May 23 at 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Italian free jazz anarchy from the Jooklo Duo - who go toe to toe with Manc/American Guitar assault of Chalaque in a freewheeling quartet at Henry’s Cellar Bar. Jooklo Duo, made up of Virginia Genta and David Vanzan who have collaborated and torn their way through amazing sets alongside the likes of Chris Corsano, Paul Flaherty, Bill Nace, Daniel Carter, Thurston Moore and Makoto Kawabata, amongst others. A whirlwind of Ayler horns at his most frenzied, but with full on punk sensibilities. Chalaque of Manchester is the solo psychedelic brainchild of Nick Mitchell, also head honcho of the excellent Golden Lab Records. He’ll be joined by a very special guests from across the Atlantic (and former Auld Reekie resident) – Eric Hardiman, aka. Rambutan!

Support from two separate improv duos on the night - vocals and electronics from Raven Shuns, made up of derby crash queen and Hockyfrilla noise merchant, Rhian Thompson and Susie Fitzpatrick of out-there weirdos Acrid Lactations. As well as some sax and axe debauchery from Tina Krekels from FUA & Grant Smith of Muscletusk. A proper old school night of noise, skronk and mischief from Braw Gigs at our old haunt at Henry’s Cellar – it’s been too long!
